Poco F4 launches
officially with a 64MP camera system, Snapdragon 870, 67W charging, and more.
With the official release of the Poco F4, which comes with a
redesigned chassis and a few small tweaks over its predecessor, Xiaomi's
inexpensive Pocophone series has grown.
The basic F4 isn't exactly in direct competition with the
biggest and finest smartphones of 2022, unlike the recently released Poco F4
GT. Instead, it offers a few downgrades in order to cut the price.
A flat 6.67-inch FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display with a notch in
the centre and a maximum brightness of 900 nits is present. Instead of the more
recent Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor inside, Xiaomi has chosen to use the
Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chipset. This is coupled with 128/256GB of UFS 3.1
storage and 6 or 8GB of RAM.
In case you weren't aware, the Poco F3 from a year ago's
internals are almost exactly the same. The 4,500mAh battery now includes 67W
wired fast charging, which is disappointing but could be offset by other
changes. This is a significant improvement over the 33W speeds observed
previously and can fully charge the Poco F4 in less than 40 minutes.
The Poco F4's camera configuration at the back now includes a
64-megapixel primary sensor with OIS, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, and a
2-megapixel macro sensor. The Sony IMX 596 replaces the Samsung S5K3T2 ISOCELL
sensor in the selfie camera, which is listed at 20 megapixels.
With the Poco F4, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner is back,
but you can also use software-based face unlock for safe unlocks. Although
Xiaomi has not officially announced the precise upgrade timeline for the
device, Android 12 is pre-installed.
The Xiaomi Poco F4 is available in Moonlight Silver, Night
Black, and Nebula Green in a few places around the world for €400 for the
6/128GB variant and €450 for the 8/256GB model.
